I belive that there are three types of boiler which feed central heating systems. In the upstairs bathroom, I have a water-tank in the top-half of the cupbaord and in the bottom-half (according to the sticker on its side) a 1050x400 Indirect Coil Immersion Heater with a 114 litres capacity made by Copperform Limited, which works to a working pressure of 3.5 Bar. I am guessing but is this what they call an open-vent boiler?
I have one of those unrelaible Suprima 60 boilers about which much has been written on this site. I live in a Victorian housen and the Suprima boiler was put in by the previous owners, about 8 years ago. Is it better to have the system updated, and progress, if that is the right word to rid myself of both a tank and immersion heater and get a combi boiler installed? .... are they more relaible? We are on a water-meter and use little water, so that is not a worry. Any idea of cost?

What you have in your cupboard is just an indirect cylinder.

Have you had any problems with your suprima? They do have a very bad name but once fixed they are usually quite reliable.

A combi could be cheaper to run but water usage will remain fairly comparable.

Combi's will only supply one tap at a time and will probably need the gas pipe size increased.
