Cistern weeping

My wc cistern is fixed on the underside with a bolt and wing nut. The wing nut is damp and rusty. There is an occasional drip. Is there anything I can do to cure it?

Sounds like a close coupled cistern, needs a new Close coupled kit including donut washer.

Most unlikely tightening the wing nuts will cure the weep unless it is a new install so yes it does sound like cistern off and replace the donut.

Another possibility, although slim...
Do you get condensation on the bottom of the cistern?
One of mine gets a lot of condensation and finds the lowest point to drip off, which happens to be the bolt.
Though probably not as likely during this recent spell of warm weather.
