After parking I could smell a burning clutch smell ! Have I damaged my car ?

Maybe, it's possible but if it still drives ok, probably not. Just don't make a habit of it or you will damage it.

You probably have worn down your clutch a little bit hence the smell

Why did you feel the need to rev a lot? Reversing up a hill is no different to driving up a hill forward , do you rev a lot when driving up a hill forward?

It was up a hill onto a friend's drive , it was quite a harsh dropped kerb so I revved more to get over it .

You'll have knocked a few miles off the life of the clutch - it happens to us all from time to time.
    John :)
