Ignoring the troll the question now being asked is why did this take so long to come out. All of the information which was brought to light by the Hillsborough independent panel and examined in the inquest existed from the start.
What the police did to cover their mistakes was scandalous, the fact that they couldn't have done it without Thatcher's government being right behind them, even to the extent of using the Murdoch press to attack and vilify the supporters is obvious.
At least Ingham has lived long enough to be discredited by the aftermath.
It's notable too that the campaigners had to wait until after Blair was out of office before they started to get anywhere.

Sums up South Yorkshire police perfectly. Lots of rozzers did very bad things regards the whole Hillsborough tragedy. Good post (for a change).(y)

Agreed but the fans who pushed in did so much worse ...Yet so many of you fail to see this .There are none so blind as those that refuse to see

There's a thing called "crowd control". People in authority are responsible for this. At an event the "crowd" will move forward. The people in authority, usually, take measures to ease the pressure. It is their responsibility. Trying to blame the guys in the crowd behind, pressing forward, is like blaming a baby for having a dirty nappy that mummy ignored.

As an ex koppite (late sixties, seventies and eighties) the police crowd control methods at Anfield always used to pizz us off as we all queued to get in.
But the Merseyside police knew exactly what they were doing.
As should any police force used to dealing with big football crowds.
Sheffield Wednesday at the time were a first division club and Hillsborough used to host cup semi finals virtually every year, crowd control should have been second nature to any of their officers who were regulars on match duty.
I never went that day but by all accounts the crowd control outside the ground was non existent, which combined with an inadequate number of turnstiles led to the crush situation outside. Which then led to the police panicking and opening the gates.
I know Duckinfield didn't have a clue, and had just replaced an experienced crowd control officer, but I can't understand why all of the other police on duty that day didn't know their jobs.

There was no Heysel cover up to enquire into. Various people were convicted after the event which by the way, just like Hillsborough was held in an unsuitable and unsafe stadium.
And which again, just like Hillsborough was subject to a complaint and warning over it's unsuitability by Peter Robinson (Liverpool's secretary) when announced as the venue for the final.
