    In any case, as stated in my earlier post. I don't offer them to my customers only a select few friends and family. I know their boilers and usually what part of the board has failed. Eg once had an Ecotec where the mains-in on-off connection was faulty, another that wouldn't send power to the pump on CH.

    Could someone paste this in the conbustion chamber please

    I was in Indonesia during the whole episode, I knew nothing about it. I do not hide behind a pseudonym, if you look my full details are in my profile

    According to our database (and the courier manifests) , we sent out a pcb to Mr Manlow on the 3rd October and another on the 9th October. One pcb was showing as having been returned. The second was received on the 1st December and, it being a winter Monday, we were too busy to open and book in all returns. On the 2nd October, he rang up in a very aggressive manner demanding to know where his repayment was. I went to look in the goods in box and, yes it was there. He then went on a rant saying that this had been going on for months – yes we wewre wqaiting for him to return the pcb (its an exchange service , one out – one in, It had taken that time because it had taken him 6-7 weeks to return the pcb. That’s it in a nutshell

    As to whether the pcb was working, we have yet to test it, but we had a dozen of this particular pcb go out last week, no reported problems, As someone in the CH forum said,

    We repaid him straight away the £63.60 which INCLUDES the cost of delivery and VAT (look at our website, www.cetltd.com, we do an exchange pcb for £45 ++, it’s all there

    We turn over half a million and have been trading successfully for over 20 years – someone in the P&H forum said that in his experience, our boards are more reliable than new ones. A lot of people here use our pcbs, and if we were as Mr Matelot says, we’d get a lot of bad press

    Mr Manlow was a victim of his own aggressive attitude, unwilling to listen to any explanation, in the end I had to put the phone down on him

    What's the difference between a repaired and reconditioned board.


    Several people have posted of problems with faulty boards being sent out.

    Granted they seem to be happy to be dicked around waiting for postal services ;).

    Do you have manufacturer's approval to do what you do?

    To you accept responsibility for the CE approval of the appliance if you replace any components? Or is that down to the engineer doing the replacement?


    Reasonable questions if you ask me.

    Oh, and Manlow claimed he only spoke to Angie. Is that another Pseudonym?

    Your profile has next to no useful information in it, and claims you are still in Indonesia.

    How do you root out bad RGI's? On the grounds that CORGI's are irrelevant these days - and have been for a while now ;).

    Our pcbs have a 12 month warranty, same as new ones, but at e.g. suprima module a third of the price.
    pcbs have weak points, replacing those weak pointsmeans that part is as good as new, other parts don't tend to fail so much - what's your point?
    We use superior beqarings in our fans to those that the manufacturerrs use, making our fans more reliable
    Tony - have you ever had a problem with any CET rep[aired items that you have fitted?
    BTW, my BiL came out of intensive care two days ago

    Our pcbs and fans are repaired and tested. components replaced are like for like or better (e.f. in the case of fan bearings, capacitors etc). They are not "rehashed", ... "unapproved" ? what do you mean, components are replaced like for like , pcbs are sent out "as built"

    It is not difficult.

    YOUR company is replacing parts of PCBs NOT supplied by the MANUFACTURER of the boiler.

    Those PCBs are therefore NOT the same as ones approved by the manufacturer. Therefore, the boiler is no longer going to conform to the same standards as set out by the manufacturer in their declaration of conformity.

    So the manufacturer is no longer responsible for the safe operation of the appliance. If something was to go Pete Tong and hurt someone, will you stand by the purchaser when their insurance company, HSE, Gas Safe, the police come knocking?

    Or are you saying the likes of Ideal, Ariston and Potterton are happy that you are reworking their boards and approve of your endeavours?

    Why should I tell you what the difference between repair and recon is? You are the one peddling these boards.

    I am asking YOU. Is it an unreasonable question?

    Dan, you've made your position and the safety principles you follow clear. Nothing wrong with that.

    However in the interests of balance and consistency, I'd ask the following about a manufacturer dear to your heart.

    How do Intergas get away with approving the use of a concealed flue joint (as required to install OV model c/w rear offset flue), when accessible flue joints has been a mandatory requirement since Jan 13? I suggest this is more naughty than anything CET get up to.
