Can someone please help me.

My boiler is allowing hot water to come on, however when trying to work the central heating system it is going to three bar and, trying to light the boiler but then cutting help.

I thought this may be due to the condensate pipe being frozen but i do not see how the hot water could be working?

Any help would be really appreciated.

please send a pic of where pipes enter the boiler i think on your kids may turned a switch underneath

Sorry, i am doing this for my old man and he has made the explanation a lot more complicated than needs be.

Let me try to make it clearer. He has a baxi boiler, he heard his boiler rattling (at this point the hot water and CH were working fine), at the boiler there was zero pressure. He filled the system up to 1.5 bar and the system shut down. He tried re-setting it several times but still nothing. He tried putting it up to several different bars but still nothing.

You are probably thinking it could be a million different things but is there anything i can try before getting an engineer out?

Thanks

He siad there is, the only thing he said he has done is raise the pressure to 1.5 bar, and as soon as he did this the combi stopped working. he has just tried re-setting it again but no no avail. i cannot understand why it was working and when re-filling it it stopped!

In your first post you mentioned that the pressure was going up to 3 bar.

This would point to a possible problem with the expansion tank or the filling loop not closed.

If it was going to 3 bar then the pressure relief valve could have opened. If it has then sometimes the valve won't seat correctly and can pass water. This could possibly be why you are now loosing pressure.

Setting it at 1.5 sound about right.

Condensate pipes have been freezing all over the place. If yours has frozen it could stop the boiler working.

I am sorry about this. Forgett everything i have said to date. I have just had a lengthy conversation with my old man and this is the problem.

He has said now that the hot water is working and has been all along, but the CH is not working. it is staying at the same pressure (1.5 bar - constant). yesterday everything was working fine but when he raised the pressure the CH stopped.

Sorry again for the confussion. i do appreciate the replies so far.
