i want to put a false wall up in my house. basically, as you come through the front door of my house you enter the dining room. i'd like to put up a wall in this room to create a corridor through to my living room, and then a door (in the false wall) through to the new room. hope that makes sense.

what would be the best materials to use? i would require some insulation for a bit of soundproofing etc. i am told that constructing the door frame is the hardest part.

You can buy a door lining kits, then some 4"x2" for timber stud work with rockwool insulation in between the plasterboards etc

Constructing the door frame, just make sure the frame is square and supported by timber brace at 45 degree on top of the corners and a brace at the bottom both side crossway.
