cooker/oven outlet plate

Hi guys.Is it necessary to fit cooker outlet plate behind oven OR take a cable direct from CU to cooker isolater and then to cooker or oven itself.Is cooker outlet plate rated 45 amp same as cooker isolater switch.What size metal box would be needed if oven cable is 6mm.
