Hi,
Our house is about 90 years old, the front bay windows consist of wooden frames with masonry sills and surrounds. Despite using alkali resistant primer before applying the masonry paint, after a few months brown stains appear on the painted surface in patches on the uprights and sills. In some parts of the sills the stains kind of bubble (looks a bit like brown effluoresence!). We have owned the house for 8 years and the problem has been here from the start, i don't know what type of paint was originally applied but I have only ever used good quality masonry paint. Should I attempt to strip the paint back to the masonry? and if so what is the most effective method of doing this?
Thanks in advance for any advice
