I have just bought a property which had a unit from the floor to the ceiling of mu room, alongside the chimneh breast. I have removed he unit to find the coving had been plastered upto it so there is now a 3ft stretch next to the chimney breast with no coving. I have had quotes to match the coving but these are too expensive so please can you suggest something to use to hide this - shelves etc would be too high. I am desperate now!!! thanks,

Putting up coving is not too difficult. Your biggest problem could be transporting it from the shop and cutting accurate 45 degree angles. You can stick it up with almost anything, my plasterer uses Artex, then fill along the gaps with a dollop of Artex or Polyfilla on the end of your finger and smooth off with a damp sponge. Even a dodgy corner can be bodged up afterwards with more filler then sanded and it won't look at all bad once painted. Think of icing a cake!
