I have a granite lintel above an upstairs window in my 1949 semi. I can see a crack in it in the centre slightly diagonal and top to bottom of the lintel, approx. 12 inches (300mm). It has been there for at least 20 years and I have no reason to suspect anything is wrong. However, it is cosmetically not what I would want it to be and it's about time I thought about whether it actually does need to be fixed/replaced or can it be cosmetically repaired so it does not appear to be a defect.

If the face of the lintel is very uniform, flat/smooth, it will be difficult to disguise the crack cosmetically. Equally, if the crack is very tight then getting stuff into it will be difficult.
I'd be inclined to try a clear silicone making sure all the excess is cleaned off the face of the lintel. You may get lucky and find a darker product to match your lintel colour, mebbe?
