Hi

Just moved to a propery on a fairly busy road (buses mainly..)

Most of the house is fine due to good double glazing however a lot of noise travels thriugh the front door and into the hallway. Any suggestions for insulating/soundproofing greatly appreciated (conservation area so double glazed door not an option)

Thanks

You will properly dislike my response, but what about establishing trees? Would take a while but, it worked for us.

A heavy curtain across the front door makes a big difference. It will also save heat loss. Looks in keeping with an older house.

There is a special sort of curtain rail made that is hinged and opens with the door, but they aren't often seen.

thanks both, sadly we have no front garden :( so trees not an option.

Do you know where I can get the curtain rail you described?

Sorry, no. I had an aunt who bought one, must be 10 years ago or more, don't know where, though I have seen then advertised. Maybe a curtain specialist would know.

Make sure you have good fitting heavy foam draught excluders on the door. Sound is rather good at 'leaking' through thin gaps.
