I'm looking to fit hardwood floor on the ground level of my house but I'm concerned about the skirting boards.

I've recently wallpapered and painted the walls, so do not particularly want to risk damaging this by removing the skirting board. I don't want to use beading, as I think this would spoil the finish.

Is there a tool/method to cut the skirting board so that the floor can slide and fit in underneath?

By the way, I haven't bought the flooring yet, so don't know how it's gonna be fitted or depth of it, etc. - sorry.

Any answers v much appreciated.

Thx in advance

I've used the door trimming saw, not supposed to use it on skirting board :!: As long as you're careful by not touching the wall and hit any nails the hire tools shop won't be happy as it damaged the blade which will add cost. Best to cut under slightly then split with a wood chisel and in the corners as well. Or you could fit another skirting board over the old one like a small box section.

Thank you for both responses... :)

What do you think would provide a neater finish? What would be easier to use?

Any further help appreciated. Cheers in advance

the biccy joiner is pretty much a throw away price and will give you a clean finnish

and as said if you dammage the the blade on a door trimmer your probaly taking around £60 for a new one
