Some phillistine has nailed the carpet to our beautiful victorian tiled hall floor. Lots of damaged tiles. What is the best way to restore? Do we need to replace? or can they be 'filled'?

Pick out the damaged ones and replace. Filling the cracks will look gash

Try Original style or Old England as a good replacement for your originals or a reclaim yard.

The tiles are not terracotta if it's a Victorian floor in the way most people mean. They are a dust pressed floor tile.

To buy a few triangles, strips and squares to repair will not cost much or take long if just a few are damaged. Go on Original Styles website and do a search for your nearest retailer. If you are near to Newport I think Narduzzo will be able to help you or Cardiff Tile if nearer Cardiff.

Cheers, shouldn't be too difficult. The tiles are actually all teracotta 'coloured'. The hardest thing will be getting a good match. the main problem is some of the damaged ones are partly under the staircase. Will give the rec yard a go and take it from there.
thanks
