Danfoss timer connected to Potterton Performa - is it poss?

My old gravity system is being refitted with a Performa combi. The old boiler had a Danfoss 102E5 7-day controller which worked well - questions is, folks, is it legit/possible to wire it up somehow to the Potterton and is it haaaard doing so? Otherwise it's £70 for the Potterton one but the boiler is in a bedroom upstairs and not exactly convenient for the occasional on/off.

It's easy to connect a timer to the performa, but not strictly legal. This one falls foul of the building regs doc L1 which requires time and temperature control to the CH. You are proposing just time control I think, but if I'm mistaken & you have a roomstat tucked up your sleeve then connect the stat in series with the timer output and back to the boiler connections.

I don't have the manual for the Performa, you do, so if you're competant to do the job you'll have no trouble following the MIs.

It is just time - I wasn't aware of the reg concerning temp. I've just perused the installation guide and it looks easy enough, but I should be able to add the stat as you say.

At present your timer will have a live link between live and terminal 3 this Must be removed if wiring to a performa..

The clock switching gets its power from the boiler terminal strip

so terminal 1 from boiler goes to 3 (common)on clock and terminal 1 on clock goes to terminal 2 on boiler

With nothing in terminal 2 at clock

I've just sent an email to Danfoss about this. I'd figured the link part, it was the terminal 2 that worried me a bit. Cheers!

Wait a min its terminal(heating out) 2 on clock to terminal 2 on boiler.

With nothing in terminal 1 of clock

Hang on thinking of it just put a link between 1 and 2 and connect to terminal 2 of boiler that way it won`t matter what your existing clock is set to (hw or hw/ch)

If you get the manual with diagram for the timer and the complete manual for the boiler, you should find things without problems

Seems like all is well - here's Danfoss' reply:

"Good afternoon,

Ideally you would use a 103E5 on a combi boiler but if necessary you could utilise the 102E5 using the common and the heating on contact , but this may cause confusion for future user as the timer is marked hot water."

Fair comment. I'll live with the confusion!
