different loft insulation types

I need help. I am trying to understand how loft insulation generally works. I understand that the building regulation has a requirment of reaching the U-value of 0.16w/m2k, am I right? I would like to ask how is loft insulation usually installed and how much thickness of different insulating materials i.e. flax and hemp fibre,sheep wool needed to achieve the same U-value as mineral wool or fibre glass? PLEASE HELP.

Out of interest, we've had a few people thinking about sheeps wool as loft insulation. Where did the idea come from?
 
not sure. i was told to have many other alternatives. anyone has any idea how much thickness of different insulating materials to achieve the building regulation requirements of u-values?

when the K-value for a certain insulation material, say k-value, thermal conductivity for rockwool is 0.044w/mk which it says on the webpage, does it mean to all kind of thickness? or different thickness will have different k values? how can i calculate between and over joist thickness? i just know i need 300mm between joists?
