Hi guys
I fitted a dimmer switch to my bedroom which shares a common feed from the bedroom next door. When I turn the dimmer on it works fine however when someone turns the switch on for the bedroom next door it causes the dimmer to drop down in light and has to be turned on and off to reset.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Pete

Just 2 red wires live and switched on the dimmer.
The other switch has 3 red wires live in and one out to other switch and a switched live.
If that makes sense.
It appears when the current fluctates when one light is switched on it makes the dimmer drop down.

Have taken the dimmer off and may have found the problem if you guys can confirm.
The dimmer is a 40w/va-220w
I take it that the max wattage is then 220 and since I have 300 could this be the issue?
Thanks
Pete

I would say so.

You also have to derate dimmer switches by upto 50% when used with halogen loads.

Unless their instructions specify their use on halogen loads.
