Hello all,

In the bathroom of the house I've moved into, they have this small, 1" high skirting which I think looks naff! I've never seen it before - is it purely decorative?

I've had a look behind and the tiles don't meet the floor (why on earth not!?) leaving a gap of between 5-15mm in places. Could this gap be filled in a better way?

I'm re-doing the bathroom but not changing the tiles and was hoping to get rid of the skirting.

The "skirting" has been used to hide a poor tiling job and unless you replace it I cant see a way of filling the gaps you describe. The only option i can think of is to replace the flooring with some professionally fitted linoleum or equivalent with upstands around the edge.

All that is is wooden 'scotia' moulding, probably not even nailed on..

Do as nstreet recommends, take it off...trim the vinyl flooring and put proper skirting back on.
