Hi all, my brother wants to sell a rental property.

Long story.... it has an exterior door on the outer of the porch. The inner door- which, historically, would have been the original exterior door is missing...

He wants me to fit a new inner door. Ideally something with a small (pre-glazed) window in it towards the top.

The door will have a night latch and mortice lock. From a security point of view, is there any reason why it can't be an internal "chipboard" pre-primed door? The door will never get wet. He is concerned that once the new door is fitted, the current tenants won't bother locking the outer door.

I want to keep the price as low as is practically possible given that he is trying to sell the place.

Door recommendations will be much appreciated- dimensions are approx 32" tall by 80" tall.

Many thanks in advance.

Assuming that the existing porch door is secure, do not fit any locks on the (now) internal door you want to fit.
If you do, the tenants will get into the habit of leaving both doors unlocked.
Don't ask me how I know...

Point taken, however the estate agent, a good friend of my brother, has told him to fit the internal porch door ASAP.

Sure, but don't fit locks on it.
Selco has a large variety of nice oak doors and if you look at the sale section you can get a bargain (under £100)
Many with coloured glass on it.
Or, if you want cheaper, get a cheapo door from anywhere you can find one.
If you're painting it you could even get it from a skip of freegle.

I get what you are saying but the estate agent thinks that not having locks on the (currently missing) internal porch door is potentially going to be red flag for buyers.

The estate agent is talking shyt, like all estate agents.
You don't even need a door there to rent the house.
Please ask the estate agent to give you one red flag, just one.
Or, let's have a guessing game.
I can't see anything wrong with an internal door without lock, do you?
