    Hi all,

I have a double dimmer controlling:
    • 6x 5W LED spotlights (Diner)
    • 4x 5W LED spotlights (Kitchen)

I have a weird reoccurring issue where each group of spotlights turn off randomly then turn back on. This happens randomly, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after 1 hour. It may go through the on/off sequence once, or it may do it 3 times in a row. On other occasions, they strobe on/off. I have attached a video of this.

It happens at any brightness, i.e. when the dimmer is on Max or half brightness, it doesn't seem to fix the issue

I have confirmed the LED spotlights are dimmable, they are these: https://www.luceco.com/uk/parts/efte45pc30

The dimmer is this LAP model: https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-2-gang-2-way-led-dimmer-switch-white/366cc

I had a look at the wiring behind the dimmer, it's wired up as follows:

Theres 3 incoming twin and earth cables.

It appears the L1 connectors are linked.

Here's a video of the lights going crazy one time:

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have had same problem with electronic switches with G9 bulbs, G9-comp.jpg the large one had a smoothing capacitor as big as the whole smaller bulb, no flashing and no shimmer with larger bulb, with smaller bulb the load capacitor helped but did not cure the problem.

I have come to the conclusion if you want to remote switch or dim a LED bulb best idea is standard on/off switch and use smart bulbs. Do not use both, as if you switch the bulb off no way to switch back on again.

I note my switch says use 5 watt or over bulbs, and the small G9 was well under 5 watt, I had thought it meant total, but seems each bulb needs to be 5 watt, it seemed clear some reaction between bulb and electronic switch, both the switch and lamp seem to be at fault, or at least incompatible, but lack of any way to work out what will work, means moving the smart bulbs.
