Bodgeit and scarper ltd

I have been told I have to make a dovecote.
Been to the timber yard to get the wood from there rubbish skip, but I forgot to go to the garden centre to measure the size of the holes.
Anyone know what size they should be?
 
not sure of exact size, but ones i have seen are a cartoon mousehole shape and look about 6 inches wide.
 
It needs to be exact to keep larger birds out like ravens and buzzards.
