Yesterday my oven decided not to work. I think we had a powercut and then when the electric came back on the circuit with the oven on kept tripping, the only way to get the house OK is to keep the oven circuit turned off.
My boyfriend thinks the oven blew and tripped the circuit rather than a powercut happening.

We pulled the socket off the wall which controls the oven, thinking there would be a fuse in there. There isn't.
Will there be another socket type box at the back of the oven somewhere with a fuse in it that might have blown? Would it be dangling at the back behind the cabinets?
It's an integral oven, about 10 years old.
Any advice would be welcome.

No, it's unlikely that there will be any more fuses in the circuit other than the MCB/fuse at the consumer unit. If the MCB in your consumer unit is tripping then this suggests a fault with the oven or the wiring leading to it, which you should probably have checked out.

A blown fuse in a circuit will not cause the MCB controlling that circuit to trip, just in the same way that if a 13A plugtop fuse blows it will not stop you from subsequently resetting the MCB that feeds the socket(s).

We tried again 24 hours later and it worked! Wierd but I'm v.v. happy as we're moving out next week!
