Hi , I was told by Ikea that their electric built in ovens by Whirlpool do not require hardwiring into the circuit box, and can just be plugged into the wall socket...I asked them to confirm this and they said it was correct.

Does this sound dodgy to anyone, will I be expecting my fuses to go if I did this?

thanks

Electric cookers tend to be "hard wired" as all circuits can be on at once and draw a lot of power. However, seperate oven units do tend to be about 2.0/2.3kw which is less than a leccy fire, so yes, a 13amp plug top will do, but if it's fan assisted, work out your power draw carefully. (watts divided by volts (230) = amps)
