Hello there--many thanks for letting me into this great forum:)

I am about to lay cable for an electric cooker, all the other work will be done by an electrician, but in terms of money, I need to save on that bit of work. The easiest route for me would be to start in the elecricity cupboard, and round a wall shelf above wood panelling, obviously encasing the cable in the proper type of casing. Would this be at all allowed? The cable boxing would be barely visible above the shelves, but visible enough to avoid acccidental damage? It would just save me having to wreck a fairly new floor above, or below...many thanks:)

Are you saying that the cable will be in 'mini pvc trunking', clipped direct, or hidden within the route(which may be outside of a 'zone') ?

Cheers

Ed

Hi There--many thanks for replying. I'm not very technical so will try explain, please bear with me:))
The cable would come from a small electricity cupboard in the hall, around the shelving (About six and a half feet from ground) which passes over two doorways, and would then go through the wall into the room which has the second doorway, around 8 metres length in all. It would be enclosed in the type of trunking which is fitted against the wall:)

Many apologies if I'm a bit vague and thanks in advance:)
