Hi I went to put a hob ring on and a popping sound came from the cooker, that which you would hear if a fuse has blown. I opened up the socket in the wall thinking I would find a small fuse, which I could replace. There wasn’t one that I could I see, do I require an electrician? Or can requires fuses be brought from an electric store? Even the 3-prong plug socket, which shares with the cooker switch, now does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

i think so, i think it is a hard wired plug on the kitchen wall, with a big red switch saying on and off, i opened this up, but could't see anythign familer which looked like a fuse. there is a plug socket on there also which has now stoped workign too.

no thats NOT what you want to check.

you want the consumers unit (thing with lots of fuses)

but to be honest as you do not know what you are looking for you could cause more grief, have you not got a friend ? (no need for electrician yet)
