Hi hope you can help. Can't turn the key in the ignition, assuming the barrel is worn out. Can I just drill out the barrel and replace it? If I do that what about the chipped key? I known I could take it to a garage(if I could start it), but rang up for an idea of price, which was more than the car was worth!

Hi this is an easy one,first take off the cowling from around the steering column, you will now see a black ring around the ignition barrel held on by one screw,remove screw and remove the black plastic ring, now remove the ignition switch off the back of the barrel, put key back into the barrel giving it a little wiggle while trying to turn the key, it should turn, if it does turn put the key in the first postion, now you should find a little round push button underneith the barrel, push this in with alittle screwdriver and at the same time pull on the key, the barrel now should be out,buy new barrel from ford which they will build to your key,dont worry no to expensive,re fit in reverse order jobs agooden,p.s dont worry about the immoboliser as its the black ring around the barrel which you dont have to replace, hope this helps, let me know how ya get on as its not that hard to do,JIM.
