Hi, can anyone help me with this problem.

My UPVC door uses a euro cylinder. Everything fine till the other day.

Now the key can only be removed if its in the lock position. It seems the the key wont go fully vertical when its open. This is causing me a few headaches as I have to unlock the lock then open the door, then lock the lock and remove the key. This then has to be repeated once on the other side.

Can anyone tell me if this is a prob with the euro cylinder or the actual door lock mechanism in the door.

If its the door lock mechanism then its still under guarantee.

Ive removed the euro cylinder and everything rotates fine once its out of the door.

Any suggestions.

cheers

Sounds like the cam on the cylinder has rotated. With the cylinder out of the door, take the key out and note the position of the cam (the bit in the middle of the cylinder that rotates around). It should be either at 5 or 7 O'clock - ie just outside of the cylinder housing. If not, it needs replacing.

If this is not the problem, then it's likely to be a faulty mechanism - also worth checking other threads on UPVC cylinders, as it could be the frame strikes that arenot lined up correctly (though it doen't sound like it).

Cheers for the reply. After checking again, it's nowhere near the 5 or 7 oclock position. With the key out it moves slightly between the 1 and 2 oclock position. More like 1.34.

Have ordered a new cyinder 50 (o)/ 45 (i) from handlestore.co.uk as nowhere else I found seemed to stock that size.

Hopefully it will sort out the prob.

Will be billing my in laws for the new cylinder as it seems it was they who forced the key in.
