Labour destroys the country through debt and the conservatives have to pick the pieces and make the necessary cuts hence them being called the nasty party.
    But still the debt rises.

Lets face it, who cares if the country is riddeled with debt unless you have to pay it back? Does a dole bludger care?
The labour shower of half wits certainly don't care.

Yes positive. Spurious links don't mean jack schitt.
Gordon Brown's motto was : more debt in the boom, more debt in the bust. And if it goes wrong: well, that’s my successors’ problem.
murphy sounds like a typical labour/corbyn acolyte who will cook the figures to suit his own agenda..

IMHO the railways should be taken back into public owner ship.

not that long ago pretty much everything was state owned , which is not a good idea imo ( railways are different )

You bought a car from BL state owned
built with steel that was state owned
the steel plant was powered by state owned coal mines
went on holiday on a state owned air line
booked the holiday on a state owned travel agent
made a phone call on a state owned telephone company
    Gas
    Electric
    Water

    Like some commie country ??

The only failing was typical British crap management.

There is no reason that the treasury could not be getting BT's 2 or 3 billion profit - or reduce the price.

IMHO, the core issue isn't HMG, managers, the unions or any combination of those. We all recall the days transam is talking about but there have been massive changes since then in both the world economy and transportation. Unless we imposed some form of protectionism, I doubt very much whether any government could balance the books in any of the old nationalised areas without having to resort to drastic pruning. It's not really possible to compare us with other nations because there is not a level playing field in many key areas including labour laws, internal politics and, of course, culture.

Service was much worse under BR. Punctuality and service was poor, they shut down half the network, and were responsible for the worst accidents. You may not like Southern, but it's still better than it used to be.

Well of course it has, now that it is becoming clearer that the Quitters' fantasy of staying in the single market is unravelling.

Very unpatriotic of you to roll on floor laughing at the prospect of England's economic damage.
