I have a Risco Gardtec wireless alarm system and I have been changing the batteries in the PIRs for years. I now need to change the battery in a door contact, but I have no idea how to get into it. There are no slots or screws around the sides, top or bottom. There are just wires going into a hole at the bottom.

so on this unit, can you see a second thin piece of plastic underneath?
You should be able to slide the unit off.
In the box that is left you can prise open with a flat headed screw driver.
