Hi,

I’m currently building a front extension for a new entranceway which should look like this when finished (it will be a slate cladding finish not brick).

In the picture below I’ve arrowed the bit I’m struggling with:

I’m thinking that the walls and wall plate height will match existing. Then, using plywood for the vertical part but clad in the soffit material (Upvc probably). The join of the old roof would be lead flashing lapped underneath the soffit.

I’m about to install an eaves lintel above where the window will go. I’ll have a layer of blocks and a wall plate on the lintel to match the existing wall plate level. I’ll join the rafters to the existing rafters and extend out to the new wall plate to give a min of 15deg pitch.

Does that all seem sensible?
