Extensions and roofs

Not really about extensions or roofs, but I felt unloved cos no-one was looking at my previous posting...
I'm planning to make some wardrobes. Does anyone know if you can buy timber board in anything other than pine.. I was hoping to use some IKEAesque birch or other pale and trendy wood.
Am I being too ambitious here? Should I just give up and make that trip to MFI??
I'd love to here anyones experiences in this area...

I am sure you were not ignored deliberately. You can get a variety of timbers at specialist timber suppliers cut to thickness, width and length but it will cost!
Why not compromise on reasonable quality flatpack and use paint finishes to simulate the wood type you like.
Even if you got your cupboard done in expensive wood, in a few years someone will paint it to suit the latest fashion!
