fabric screen/door for bathroom steverine - 1st post - 16 Sep 2005 15:42
This may seem strange, but it's an idea that I think will work with the rest of the design of the bathroom and hallway. It's tiny, so I'm trying to save as much space and keep as much light as possible. ...so... I'm toying with the idea of using a curtain-like screen for a door. fixed at one side of the door, and the top of the screen mounted on a rail like a sliding door. perhaps with a length of batten vertically attached to be suspended from the rail. the batten would provide a place to mount a clasp/lock to the screen for privacy.

I think I can do all this, but am struggling to figure out where to get the fabric and what kind of thing would work best - ideally a simple natural coloured quite thick canvas would work well.

Anybody got any comments or help for me?

Anyone think I'm a loony for even trying this? :D

The only thing that springs to mind, Jolly, is a heavyweight pvc-backed fabric with large eyelets, which you would put onto a metal pole. If the eyelets are correctly spaced, then you would get a similar concertina effect when the curtain is open.
