faulty fridge

hi,

i know this is a bit general but my fridge has stopped getting cold. i dont really know anyone who knows anything about them. can anybody suggest a reason why its not getting cold anymore. does it sound like a common problem?

More information please. Make and model. Is the compressor continually running? or not running at all?
