hi, whats the best way to fix gaps in the floor where the radiator pipe stick out. we have put new floors and unfortunately the area around the pipes havent been cut well leaving a 3 in x 1 in wide rectangle around the pipes !

appreciate if someone could suggest the best way to fill them .

tks

Ouch! thats some size of hole!

Is it laminate or solid wood flooring laid over the existing flooring? If so I would cut an insert of the original material and slot it in behind the pipe it will be supported by the the existing floor. You'll then have a clearance of about 5-10mm all round the pipe - you don't want it butted righ up as the floor may expand/contract and damage the pipe.

Then go to any place that sells laminate flooring accesories, where you can get covers specifically for around radiator pipes - two types (that I know of), a thin laminate about 50mm diameter with a hole in the middle for the pipe and a slit which just slips over the pipe and sticks on the floor (looks a bit naff), or solid wood doughnuts which will slide apart for fitting. Both these will come in arange of colours.

Better still, get whoever laid the floor to come back and sort it!
