Fire alarms etc regulations

Can anyone please tell me what regulations cover the requirement for Fire alarms, smoke detectors and emergency lighting in a student house and what those requirements are.

the house has 7 bedrooms.

also has some information, but I would perhaps ask your local council as they may be able to offer more specific advice. Its not something you want to get wrong as all sorts of legal and insurance issues could arise if you don't follow the letter of the law...
