Fitting a different type of light

I want to replace the fluorescent light fitting in my kitchen, which is an extension. There are just two cables coming out of the ceiling, there is no ceiling rose as it has been connected straight into the fluorescent fitting, I would find it very difficult to gain access into the roof cavity to fit a junction box and would appreciate any advice.

most lights have room to connect two cables in them. also make a note of my signature (saves LOADS of grief)
