Hello. Could anyone help me with this prob. I own a 2014 ford ka studio. I have a front screen dashcam. I am thinking of fitting a rear screen dashcam. As the cigar lighter socket is already in use i may need to hardwire into the fuse box in the glove compartment with the piggy back connector from the rear screen kit. However, on looking in the ka manual at the glove box fuses i dont know which fuse to use. The cigar lighter fuse is 5A under the bonnet. This rating will probably cover the dashcam The ka manual (58 to 66 reg) shows the fuses in the glove compartment but is unclear as to which circuits they represent. Could i just fit the electrical connector supplied with the cam kit to a free fuse socket? If not, which fuse could i use to connect the cam using piggy back to get an ignition live feed when i start the car. A description list of the glove box fuses would be appreciated.
    Thank you for your help.

Is there not a 12v auxiliary socket in the boot? If not, any fuse that becomes live when the ignition is switched on should do.

I have a KA+ (Different year and very likely different fusebox) and the cigarette lighter socket is always powered.
I unplug/replug when I get in to turn my dashcam on (A situation I do need to sort out).

From what I recall the older KA does not have the same socket in the boot.
I wonder if it has a light at all? perhaps that can be used to provide power?

Here is the fuse locations: https://fuse-box.info/ford/ford-ka-2008-2014-fuses
If you have a mutimeter, set it to 20vDC, connect the black lead to the body and the red one probe the tops of the fuses turning on/off the ignition to find one that turns on with it.
If you can use one of the fuses inside the car rather than in the engine bay that would save you having to try and go through the bulkhead which is supposed to be sealed.

Whichever fuse you use, put an inline fuse inthe dashcam power lead, you can even get one of those fuse replacement adapters that allow you to tap off the original fuse and have a second fuse the the dashcam (although I'm not sure you can get car fuses at 1-2 amp?)

Hello. Had a look at the fuse box pic. However, i removed the 15 amp fuse thinking it was the windscreen/window washer pump which i am sure is ignition live but when i turned the ignition and tried it the rear wiper pump still worked. I am slightly confused and trying to tie up the fuses in the glove compartment with their respective circuits. They don't seem to match and the book is very unclear. A right pain. The attachments show the fuse amp ratings and layout but nothing else. Need to establish which fuses cover circuits and which fuse or fuses cover an ignition live either for the windscreen rear washer pump or otherwise. Any diagrams that look like the attached pic of the fuse box in my car? I could take each fuse out one by one to establish what they cover.
