Hi everyone,

I have an outdoor garden where I built an indoor gym + office combined with 20mm rubber tiles to protect the existing engineered wood floor.

It looks and feels brilliant, however it's just impossible to get the offgas from the rubber tiles after a couple of months - even though low levels cause I bought a quality brand they probably emit formaldehyde, which is toxic especially with the very well insulated room and lack of ventilation. It gets particularly bad when I warm the room up a bit to work in there. It would probably be fine to just work out there but I need the room for my home office as well so am getting dizzy staying in there all day.

That being said, I'm looking for ideas on what I could possibly use instead to protect the wood floor and that wouldn't break the bank. Some people say cork but it's >£40-50/sqm so it just seems silly to spend that much to protect a floor of exactly that price!

Any other ideas? I've thought T&G chipboard, but not sure if that would be good enough and can be fixed well without screwing down?

Thanks!
