Mine decided to pack up (1993 Fiesta 1.1) again. I first tried the common remedies - jiggling the multi-stalk and cleaning/easing the bootlid hinges all to no avail. With the ignition on and the multi-stalk in the back position I tried a bulb between the copper boot tabs and earth - got power, the bulb lit up. Having removed the bootlid trim, I similarly tried a bulb between the incoming motor plug and earth and likewise the bulb lit up. I next wired the wiper motor directly to a battery charger and it worked. So it must be the plug unit. I cut the wires and remated them via a little wiring block and lo and behold back in business.
So, I just thought you all would like to know that the wiring plug to the wiper motor is another suspect.
