When I saw this I just had to take a look inside
It states, "CAUTION - Risk of electric shock, do not open."

And inside...

Well obviously the most your going to get from a battery is 3 volts at a few milliamps, its not going to kill you, or hurt in any way.

But perhaps the warning was of dangers lurking under the screwed-down cover?

What hidden dangers could be lurking inside a battery clock that needs to carry this warning?

I think we have overkill here. :)

Are you mad Johnmelad? It stated risk of electrical shock do not open and you open it!!! you are lucky to be alive especially since they were Kodak alkalines inside!
Note to others: Never ever mess with AA bateries, they are lethal

Batteries other than Kodak are also available.

I once opened a camera powered by 2 AA batteries, I dropped it in some water and wanted to try unsuccesfully to dry it out......

However i inadvertantly touched the flash module and got a decent electrical buzz. obviously not dangerous as i proceeded to get everyone in my dorm (I was travelling the world) to see if they could get to that "screw" as my hands were too big........ lol they all got lit up!!!

Maybe the same molding is used for a mains version?
