Hi chaps,

I have ordered a new bath which i will be swapping over in the new year. The current bath fits in my bathroom very snug - wall to wall. My new bath is shorter (1685mm) and will leave me with a 50-60mm gap between the bath and the wall. Any ideas of how to deal with this gap without it looking like a bodge?

Cheers

if the wall panel, to which the bath end will be short, isn't to wide then it would look ok to batten and board the whole thing floor to ceiling.

if this is not an option then create a shelf, roughly one or two tiles (depends on size) up from the bath.

i think it always looks grotty if you put an infill at the same height as the bath rim.

I see what you mean. I like the idea of creating a shelf, that would look almost deliberate then.

Cheers

I have done this on many occasion- get a white upvc section if the gaps 50mm then buy a 65mm skirting section (specialist building factors sbf.co.uk) apply silcon and fasten in place the radius on the section on side to bath - square to wall.
looks good and i have had no complaints but make sure you apply silicon on under side (stops water getting under)
hope this helps

You could use the gap to create a void in which to run pipes for a an overhead shower & mixer valve!
