HI, hoping someone can help me with a question on garden lighting.

I have been given 7 small outdoor mains lights they are rated at 11w each but i have 7w energy saver bulbs to go in them. To cover the garden i reckon the run length will be around 30m and have 1.5mm SWA cable to do the job.

Is the 1.5 mm cable okay ?

Can i run this from a 13a socket spur ?

To make the indoor connection can i use similiar 1.5mm cable but not SWA ?

regards

Thanks, ban-all

The question of the 2 cables was one that concerned me. I didn't consider doing this without using SWA but wondered about the practicalities of making the individual light connections and how to get round the size of the cable.

11w mains lights? Are you sure? 11w sounds like some form of rare SELV lamp, unless its a Pygmy type lamp. Check the voltage. And if they are mains voltage, check that the 7w bulbs will fit in them.

If using SWA, you may need to terminate these in a seperate junction box at each light, and run a short length of 1.5mm hituff, or even a single SWA to each light.
