garden lights

I have a garden lighting system that uses 8 only 4 watt lamps I have broken 2 of them :oops: can I replace them with 8watt lamps

We have no way of knowing anything about the system All it is is a converter run fom the 240 volt mains and gives out 12 volts AC and has 8 lights with 4 watt lamps It is a kit set and has no instructions

8 lamps @ 4 watts = 32 watts.

6 lamps @ 4 watts = 24 watts (you broke 2)

2 lamps @ 8 watts = 16 watts

16 watts + 24 watts = 40 watts

as you said it is a set.

sets are usually made as cheap as possible (another story) but the transformer (you said "converter") will usually be rated at the total lamp load of the set i.e 32 watts.

I know you are in NZ, but here is an example. in the UK we can get a set of 4 garden lights for £9.99 (thats about 23 NZD)
