We are on an electric meter and have just come home from work to find the electicity off. Not enough credit. Anyhows bought some more credit and put key into meter and heard an unusual sound. Upon investigation the surge in electricity must have caused the air vent in the boiler to blow or whatever technical reason. It was spurting out water and have now isolated the electrics and turned pilot light off and the spurting water has slowed down to more of a trickle. How can i stop the leak. Do i need to drain something, turn a tap off etc etc, until tomorrow where i can then look for a replacement, call someone out.

Thanks

I should add the pressure gauge now reads 0 and a little trickle is all thats coming out. Is this safe to remain like this overnight/all day whilst at work??

Thanks Kevplumb but forgive me for the thickness, there is no screw slot on the cap assuming you mean the little nozzle where the water is trickling out.

Is this still neccessary if the water has stopped trickling?

How easy is it to remove/ replace. Can i do it or does it have to be by a gas registered person etc?

Your swiftflow has just commited suicide :!:

The fan must run all the time the pilot is alight to disburse heat. Electric off, pilot on, heat rises and AAV melts - boiler drowns   :D
