Gravel and Stone patio

Hi - I am looking for some advice. We are changing an existing patio area (was gravel - whih has now almost gone) to gravel with paving stones laid in a fairly random pattern. Should I lay the gravel before the stones, or vice-versa?

probably easier to lay the stones first. I assume you mean "slabs"? What you laying them on and how are you fixing them down? Its just that small groups of slabs are very liable to movement if not done right.

lay the slabs first. If youre laying them individually then youll nedd to do them on a full bed of wet mortar
