Grohe showers

i ve recenty purchased a grohe power shower, the wall bracket looks like it needs to be behind the wall, making the thermostat housing look neat flush up to the wall,

how do i go on about this with a double skinned brick wall,

batten it out, run the pipes in the void and then plasterboard over.

the other option would have been to get a surface mount one where the pipes can come in from above but i think its probably too late for that now?

i was thinking of going down that route,

now can i just connect the pipes up to the current ones going into the bath or do i need any other parts
