We had a new bathroom put in just over a year ago, but the grouting around the bath tiles is turning orange in the places that get wet a lot. why is this? and is there anything we can do to restore the grout to a whiter shade?! it's stating to look really ugly.

It's due to the shampoo and soap you use.
Just asked the wife - she uses Bathroom Cif to clean our tiles (we get the orange staining too).
You can get grout sealer to try and maintain the white look, but I find it much easier to let the wife clean em. ;)

I was going to ask that question too ..our grout does the same..I always thought it was down to something in the grout..

As for removing..im the toilet/shower cleaning manager in our house...I done it last week...had a fair bit of mould and the orange stuff..

Try Detol 'mould and mildew remover' (formally known as detox)...I sprayed it on left it overnight..following morning..BOSH! the lot was sparking white again.

It in a apple green coloured bottle...very good gear.

We have got a ginger cat...might try it on him next!
