once upon a time a boy moved in with a girl (me) and they decided they would go to Ikea and buy a lovely new kitchen. Now the boy (we wont name him) had fitted kitchens apparently when he was alot younger (in a previous life, perhaps) so the happy couple ripped out the old kitchen (which to be honest wasnt that bad) and started to fit the new one. One day the boy decided he'd had enough, packed his bags and left, leaving the girl with a half finished kitchen.

PLEASE HELP i need it finishing does anyone know what my best plan of action is- do i just call a joiner or what?

How far along are you in fitting the new kitchen?

Best bet would be to ring around a few kitchen fitters in the area. A quick search of the yellow pages site (www.yell.co.uk) turned up this one:

D C Kitchen Fitters
158, Albert Road, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS27 8SD
Tel: 0113 253 5514 Mobile: 07900 917405
• Kitchen Fitting Specialists • Bathrooms & Bedrooms • Sales • Plumbing & Electrics • Replacement Worktops • No Job too small
Kitchen Planning & Installation

No idea what they're like, but it could be a good place to start.

Best of luck!

Loopylau, Nice little story.. Lucky he left you only with a kitchen mess.
Try looking in your local paper (if you get one), you may find a local tradesman there. Never know they might want to take over from the ex.

Is is a flat pack kitchen ? If so look for "Flat Pack Man" or similar. There was ( maybe still is ) one in this area who was a whizz kid at putting them together and didn't charge the earth.

Hi there thanks for your response. i'm in the north of leeds up past headingley in Cookridge.

the thing is its a bit of everything that needs doing, most of the units are in but i need all the plinth putting round the edges, pipes need boxing in and floor needs finishing- he started a bit of everything before he left- which was good of him!

its been a nightmare to be honest trying to find anyone who finish it and i want to put my house on the market and there is no way i can even get it valued without the kitchen being finished.

any suggestions are welcome!

:)

HI loopy

I cant blame a guy for the fix i was in.

I purchased a very good quality kitchen second hand, got it home cleaned it up and it sat in my lounge for 2 weeks, i had no sink and a totaly stripped kitchen As i had not budgeted well at all and literally had no money to have it fitted So i sobbed for 2 weeks untill i had had enough of having to rely on others.

After many tears and out of frustration i picked up a writting pad and drew my ktichen with design and measurements.

I got a drill and the next day i had all the cupboards in place, i shocked my self at what i had achieved.

I hired variouse tools along the way and did in the end a lovely little job and i havent stopped since and each job you do there is a great feeling of independance.

Some times the cost of having work done is madness and then its finding some one who takes pride in their work.

So if you fancied trying it your self its always worth a shot.

Theres much knowledge on the web and always people willing to help you along.

Imagine what you could buy for your new place for what sounds like a few £100 quids work may be even more, as the hourly rate now is a good one. Do you have any pics?
OJ :)
