Halogen transformer problem?

I installed a 5 light halogen fixture which has been turning itself off occassionally. After a rest it has worked okay. Today it refuses to light.

I discovered the fixtures say maximum 20 watt bulb. I had replaced 3 of the 20 watt bulbs with 35 watt bulbs.

Has that caused my tranformer to burn out? Is it repairable? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

you need a new transformer, you have overloaded / burnt out existing one
