Hearth paint help wanted.

Hi,

We have a large concrete hearth, width of the room we wish to paint.
Intend to have an open fire so don't want embers jumping out and spoiling it.
Its been painted by previous owners though can't ask what they used as now abroad. Have asked at DIY shops but no luck so far as to a suitable type of paint.

Any advice gratfully received.
